2021 has started well in phones as we’ve already seen the Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, three phones that are sure to be some of the best and most popular of the year. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro followed, while the impressive Xiaomi Mi 11 range and Oppo Find X3 Pro also hit the market, but there is much more to come if the leaks and rumors are to be believed.
From high-profile phones like the iPhone 13 to curiosities like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, there should be something for everyone. With MWC 2021 postponed to June and the Covid-19 pandemic affecting smartphone manufacturing, it may be a strange year for new devices, but there are sure to be exciting new phones to come.
Below we’ve highlighted the coolest options that we can expect before the end of the year. These are phones that, for the most part, are likely to be great and at least should be interesting, unusual, or innovative.
IPhone 13 range
The iPhone 13 line is arguably the most anticipated line of phones, but there’s a lot to wait for as they likely won’t arrive until September. There could be some big improvements to these new models, with high refresh rate screens, 1TB of storage, in-screen fingerprint scanners, and a smaller notch. There is also talk of adding a periscope camera that would allow for a larger optical zoom range.
Given that phones are still a long way off at the time of writing, we are still not sure about these things. You can be sure that they are very powerful and that Apple will likely offer the same range of phones as the iPhone 12 range, namely an iPhone 13, an iPhone 13 mini, an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 probably won’t be as mainstream as most of the phones on this list, but it could be more exciting than most as foldable phones are likely the future and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is probably still the best. In addition to a large, foldable screen, rumors so far about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 suggest that it could support the Samsung S pen pen, an on-screen camera, and possibly even an RGB light strip on the hinge.
We haven’t heard much else at the time of writing, but we expect more rumors to arrive before the release that could be in June if the leaks are to be believed, though some sources believe they won’t be until the second Will arrive half of the year.
In the past, we’ve been a lot more excited about the new additions to Huawei’s P-range – they usually have some of the best cameras you can find on a phone, as well as generally impressive hardware and competitiveness. The Huawei P50 is unlikely to be an exception, but since Huawei was banned, the company has not been able to offer Google apps or access to the Google Play Store on its phones, which hampers the software of things significantly.
However, if you can live with that, the Huawei P50 may be worth getting excited about. We don’t know much yet, but it will likely use the high-end Kirin 9000 chipset from the Huawei Mate 40 series. Rumor has it that the Huawei P50 Pro will have a 6.6-inch screen. But the camera is likely the star of the show, with leaks indicating some very large lenses. We should know more soon as the Huawei P50 range is currently slated to launch in May or June.
iPhone SE 3
While the iPhone 13 range is clearly the most anticipated of the upcoming Apple phones, the company could also launch a successor to the iPhone SE (2020) in 2021. So far, we’ve heard very little about the iPhone SE 3, and chances are we won’t see it until a year later. However, when it launches this year, it will likely have an A14 Bionic chipset (just like the iPhone 12 range).
There is also talk of an iPhone SE Plus, which, apart from the name, could be the iPhone SE 3. This is believed to be a larger 5.5- or 6.1-inch screen, but the general accessibility of the iPhone SE range remains. It is unclear whether the iPhone SE 3 will retain the physical home button and large bezels, a design that is getting older.
Samsung Galaxy Note 21 series
The bigger question about the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 line of products is whether it will hit the market. According to rumors, Samsung plans to discontinue the Note line of products. This seems to be more workable with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with S Pen support. Additionally, a Samsung manager has explicitly stated that the Galaxy Note 21 may not launch this year due to the lack of chipsets.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it has been canceled, but there is a high chance it will be delayed until at least next year and it looks like the days of the Note series are totaled, but we could go to a specific one At the time I still got a Samsung Galaxy Note 21. .
There’s no news yet on what it’ll offer, but as usual for range, you can expect an S Pen pen, big screen to get the most of it, and plenty of performance. When the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 hits the market in 2021, we are expected to see it in August.
Sony Xperia 1 III Compact
Aside from the expected Sony Xperia 1 III, there are rumors that the company may launch a Sony Xperia 1 III Compact. We are very excited about this phone as there weren’t many high-end compact phones around back then. Rumors have it that it might have a 5.5-inch screen and upper-mid-range chipset, although we’re hoping for a high-end chipset. We don’t know much more about the compact or standard Sony Xperia 1 III yet, but with phones slated to hit the market in the first half of the year, we hope to learn more in a short time.
